Taberna VIPS also known as VIPS1 has long been a fixture in San Jose, and is enjoying a surge in female talent.
VIPS is easy to recognize on the corner just diagonal from the Hotel Britannia.
Although it is a strip club you will only occasionally see dancers on the stage when the club has a lot of customers. The club is also managed by the same people who run Molino Rojo, which used to be called VIP2.
A beer runs about $2, and it costs $20 to have sex with a girl in the attached pension for thirty minutes.
VIPS is one of the more popular places for tourists in San Jose because the prices are low and the location is ideal. A video of a dancer onstage was published in VIPS Redux, however you should take care as YMMV.
The location is on the edge of Barrio Amon and is just next to the Old Jet Set. It is possible to walk from VIPS at night to Bella Mansion, which is also several blocks away on the Zona Roja map, however you should take a route that avoids the Dominican sector.

Again my most recent visit to VIPS was a great time, although my favorite girl Veronica was no where to be found I was able to find a suitable substitute. It wasn't very busy and the girls were very laid back, I actually had to force myself to go, but once in the room the selection was outstanding as usual. The girls never seem to work the customers very hard I think they just get used to the local Ticos starring at them, and trying to cop a feel now and then. My friend and I were ready to go we wanted action, so I just grabbed a very pretty one named Pamela and said lets go. She finished her smoke slammed down her beer wiped off her mouth and said "Vamous" that was music to my ears, as always an experience at VIPS.
