Night Club Alcasar is one of a few strip clubs in downtown San Jose, and it is perhaps more popular with a crowd of locals than tourists.

Sometimes there is a cover charge, but usually not. Dancers strip to full nudity on stage, and the girls aren’t shy about tourists coming up to tip and give them a little pat on the ass. Basically what would get you bounced out of the club in the United States will get you a smile from the dancer at Alcasar.

A lady drink costs about $10, and you should use the time to either check out the goods or negotiate a deal for sex in the lap dance room. A two song set will cost about $10 and most girls aren’t shy if you whip out a condom and take the lap dance to the next level. An additional tip may be necessary, depending on your level of fluency in Spanish.

Although running a tab is to be avoided in most strip clubs in Costa Rica the waiters at Alcasar usually keep a tally on a receipt that remains on your table. This total will include drinks, time in the lap dance room, and upon leaving is totaled by the manager. This approach makes it one the cleaner operations in San Jose, however you should not let your guard down or spending get out of control.

The management of the club discourages sex in the lap dance rooms, but most of the girls will do it when a customer negotiates this as a condition of the dance. When a customer asks a waiter about sex with the dancers he is usually offered to pay $100 plus tip for the use of the simple onsite bedroom. The salida or tax to take a girl out of the club is at least $200 plus tip to the dancer.

Alcasar is located on the Barrio Amon Map, and is just around the corner from Lipstick Night Club and not far from Pension Flamingo and VIPS Taberna.
