Landmark: Morazan Park

Located near the center of San Jose, Barrio Amon is home to historical landmarks, government offices, and hotels for foreign tourists.

Due to this popularity along with the abundance of prostitutes who frequent bars in this area it is often referred to as the Gringo Gulch among English-speaking publications. Generally you should plan to pick a hotel as close to this area as possible.

The point of reference for this map is Parque Morazan, which appears near the center of the map.

Blue Map Markers indicate bars frequented by English speaking tourists where you might find Bar Girls that will negotiate sex for a price. The most notable pickup bar in this area is the Famous Hotel Del Rey.

Green Map Markers indicate hotels that are recommended for tourists, and where you are allowed to bring dates to your room. In some cases hotels will also provide an onsite bar, however apart from the Key Largo, Blue Marlin and Sportsmens Lodge you aren't likely to find a concentration of talent in any one place.

The best Venues for Fixed Price Sex in this area have traditionally been New Fantasy, Krysis, Hotel Little Havana, and VIPS Taberna by Night. The lower priced venues worth a look have been Jet Set 70E and Muses.

Keep in mind that many tourists can drive up prices in this area of San Jose, and its not uncommon for some of the $100 Bar Girls to work for $30 by Day.

Barrio Amon is generally safe to travel on foot during the daytime, and while relatively safe at night many people use a taxi especially after dark. It's a good idea to avoid the taxis parked outside the Del Rey and instead hail a moving taxi that will use the meter.
