Joint Police Task Force at Oasis
A detail Anal-ysis on behalf of the Costa Rican police.
The police are out in force, and a local officer explains the composition and operation of the joint task force in a recent video produced by Diario Extra.
Of course Prostitution is Not Illegal in Costa Rica so the local police are prohibited by law from conducting traditional vice operations common in the United States.
Instead the officers are looking closely for illegal immigrants, drugs, underage girls, and evidence of human trafficking. The local municipality of San Jose is also sending along inspectors to make sure permits are up to date.
The word is that the city of San Jose is also turning off the porno video in places that serve alcohol. The practice of clamping down on porn was common during the later part of the 1990s, however in recent years had been ignored.
The emphasis of the raids this time appears to be Pensions and Night Clubs, and Sexclub Raids are not a new thing in Costa Rica. The good news is there were no apparent closures, and it appears that the local pay for play establishments will continue to be able to offer full service sex for under $30 in San Jose.

I was in the Del Rey on Friday night and they hauled out all the illegal Dominican girls. I also hear that the cops emptied out the pockets of all the customers at Relax. Better to carry your passport.
It still makes no sense to me for them to harrass the gringos. You know a gringo from a local from 100 feet away. The gringos are pumping (no pun intended) plenty of money into the San Jose economy. Usually $100 at a time!! I say do what you need to do, but cut the gringos a little slack. I'll be back in september, and I hope I can relax in the gulch......
Word is there was another police sweep at the Del Rey around 1:30 on Saturday night. They took out alot of the talent, including some nice girls from the Dominican Republic.
